How you earn it

Correcting someone is worth five messages. That weighting is deliberate: teaching is the behaviour worth paying for.
The limits that keep it fair
- Up to 100 tokens a day from messages.
- At most 30 of those from any one person, so talking to a single partner all day is not a strategy.
- A shared daily pool of 10,000 tokens is split between that day’s active users, in proportion to how active they were. No one can take more than 5% of it.

A day counts when you actually do something — send a message or write a correction. Opening the app does not.
What you can spend it on
- Streak freeze — 200 tokens. Rescues one missed day. You can bank two at a time.
- Fill in a missed day — 300 tokens. Fills one empty square on your activity map, within the last 14 days. Two a month, and never today — today is earned.
- Frames and titles — 500 – 10,000 tokens. Cosmetic only: bronze, silver and gold frames, and the Learner, Tutor and Polyglot titles.
That is the complete list, and it is complete on purpose.
What LangX Token is not
- It cannot be bought — there is no way to purchase tokens, with money or anything else.
- It cannot be sold, traded or staked. There is no exchange, no market, no marketplace, and none is planned.
- It cannot be sent to another user.
- It cannot be withdrawn. It does not leave the app.
- It is not on a blockchain. There is no chain, no contract, no wallet address.
- It cannot unlock a paid plan. Those are subscriptions; tokens buy none of them.
The last one is the load-bearing one: if tokens could buy a Pro feature, farming tokens would become a substitute for subscribing, and the subscription is what funds the app.

Free to use, always. You can reply to every message you receive with no limits, and write as many corrections as you like — neither is capped on any plan. On the free plan you can start 5 new conversations and use 20 translations per rolling 24 hours.
LangX Pro is a paid subscription that removes those limits and adds discovery filters, seeing who viewed your profile, and incognito browsing. LangX Pro+ adds LangX Copilot and the Nearby sort on top of that.
LangX Pro and Pro+ subscriptions. That is the whole model: no ads, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics SDK, and no selling anyone's data.
Two things are deliberately not behind the paywall. Replying to messages is unlimited, because a language exchange where you cannot answer someone is not a language exchange. And writing corrections is unlimited on every plan — rate-limiting the free side would shrink what a paying user receives just as much as what a free user gives.

No, and this one is worth explaining rather than just stating. If tokens could buy a Pro feature, farming tokens would become a substitute for subscribing — and the subscription is the thing that funds the app. Keeping the two economies separate is what lets corrections and replies stay unlimited for everyone.
Your username is reserved for you and your token balance carries over. You do need to sign up again with the same email address: the old password hashes could not be migrated.
